The Department of Emergency Medicine faculty is actively involved with local emergency medical services (EMS) on a variety of levels. Washington, D.C. is located at the junction of Maryland and Virginia and contains multiple federal agencies that provide EMS care to its citizens, thus creating unique and challenging EMS inter-jurisdictional issues. Located within the department, the program in Emergency Medical Services, offers undergraduate degree programs and primary education to all levels of pre-hospital providers. Our goal is to provide sound educational and clinical skills training to our colleagues who provide care outside of the confines of the hospital.

With this in mind, we have multiple classes and programs available both through the university and through contractual agreements with local agencies.
