Clinical Research

The Department of Emergency Medicine at GW has an active clinical research program that conducts research aimed at improving patient care and outcomes. The clinical research projects are diverse, ever changing and motivated by the research interests of individual faculty. Currently, the clinical research projects are related to infectious disease, gastrointestinal conditions, genitourinary conditions, pain management, clinical decision making, diagnostic efficiency, health information technology, ultrasound, or service delivery. The majority of our clinical research is initiated by our faculty, residents and staff although we also collaborate with other medical specialties and investigators from different institutions. Our present clinical research funding is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality as well as private foundations and industries.
